The Innovation of UV Filters for Pools in Acadiana

Many people know that swimming pools in Acadiana typically rely on a saltwater filtration system or a chlorine filtration system.  Both require careful observation of chemical levels to maintain the health of the pool system.  An ultra-violet pool system (UV for short) uses UV rays to destroy pathogens that enter the water and can reduce the need for chemicals.  It won’t replace the traditional filtration system but can completely eliminate the need for algaecide.  When installed, your UV system will sit after your filter and pump but before a heater if you have one.

A UV sanitation system works by exposing the algae spores, bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms that can invade your swimming pool in Lafayette, LA to high-intensity light waves emitted by UV-C lamps.   After exposure to UV rays, the microorganisms are no longer able to replicate and will eventually die.  Pool owners who use UV sanitizing systems report using as much as 70 percent fewer sanitizing chemicals than before the installation of the UV system.  Chemicals for pH balance and other chemicals involved in balancing the pool water will still be needed, however, as a UV system simply kills microorganisms and does not change the specific chemistry of the pool water.  A UV sanitizing system can cost anywhere from $500 to $800 but can eventually pay for themselves by saving you money on chemicals.  Maintaining a UV system is simple as well, with bulb replacement and quartz tube cleaning being the main focus.
