Acadiana Pools is committed to making acadianapools.com accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We treat accessibility as a requirement of the site, not an enhancement to it.
That includes the parts that sell pools: the pool builder, every model page, and the form on our contact page are built with keyboard users, screen-reader users and people who need larger text in mind.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Our goal is for acadianapools.com to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Based on automated testing, it is partially conformant with that level. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the standard.
How we test
Before each release, every page of this site is checked automatically with two testing tools, axe-core (at desktop and phone screen widths) and HTML_CodeSniffer (at desktop width). A failure stops the release.
These tools look for problems a program can detect, such as missing image descriptions, low color contrast, unlabeled form fields, skipped heading levels and touch targets that are too small. They check for some of the WCAG 2.1 level AA requirements and one WCAG 2.2 requirement (minimum target size), not all of them. Automated testing cannot see everything, so please tell us if you meet a barrier (see Feedback below).
Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:
- The pool builder is an interactive application embedded in this site. We maintain it ourselves, but it is the most complex thing here and the most likely place for a barrier to appear. Please tell us if you meet one.
- Pool model pages show only the images we can describe accurately. Some pictures in our catalog do not yet have written descriptions, so we leave them off these pages rather than publish them undescribed.
- Video tours of our gunite projects are hosted on YouTube and play there. Captions on those videos are outside our control.
